Episode 004: Swing Of Things

I haven’t been posting much lately, but I’ve decided to get back into the swing of things and release another episode.

This episode starts out with a big “thank you” to everyone who subscribes to this podcast. I’m glad it has been well-received.

There weren’t any interesting stories in the news relating to the religion this week, so you’re stuck listening to stories about myself, instead. It was about 1am when I was recording this, so the topics tend to go across the board a bit. Mostly, though, I cover prohibitions and restrictions of the iyawo, my own (completely irrational) fears of ocha, and a quick mention of a tambor next weekend.

As always, you can find this episode on iTunes, listen to it on my blog or download it directly from this page.

A Santo Night’s Dream

Feb 12 2010 Published by under Before My Year

Just in time for Black History month, the New World School of the Arts college theater division stages a daring and innovative interpretation of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Directed by NWSA faculty Andrew Noble in collaboration with Estela Vrancovich, costume designer for NWSA, this production looks at the world of Shakespeare through the lens of Santeria, the Afro-Cuban syncretic religion.

Admission is only $12. If any of you are in southern Florida, please go see this performance and show your support.

If you know of other interesting events going on, feel free to let me know.
