Spirits, Muertos, and Animals — Oh My!

Jan 03 2009 Published by under Before My Year

It all started with a noise. I couldn’t quite make out what it was, but I knew I hear something in the distance. Groggily and somewhat absent-minded, I asked what it was. “A spirit”, I was told. That was how things began. No ‘Hello.‘ No ‘Remember me?‘ lol. Ah well. Getting more accustomed to it now, I suppose.

So… yeah… I talked with one of my muertos again… the one that revealed itself to me as a cat last time. I couldn’t remember the name it gave last time, so I asked again. It told me that any name that started with ‘S’, really, it would respond to. Nice. lol. I asked if the name I was told previously had been its real name. No. Like with “Lucius“, I was told, it was simply a name for me to identify it with. Well, what about its form — the cat I had seen so clearly in my mind when I first talked with it? That, I was told, was a bit more complicated, it said, but that its form for me right now. Umm… ok. lol

When we first started talking, I knew pretty quick it wasn’t Lucius. Though they don’t really have “voices”, per se, he definitely has more of a masculine feel, while this one seems more feminine. Also, the way they talk is a bit different. While Lucius is fairly minimalistic and straight to the point, this one elaborates more but somehow comes across as more vague usually. When I asked whether she as my main guide or whether Lucius was, she said, “You will know… when the time is right.” Geesh. Reminds me of a fortune cookie. lol. But then I remembered, that was also what she said earlier when we first spoke.

I did manage to get a response from her regarding the speed of response I typically get. As I said in an earlier post, it was kind of creepy to often get responses to things way before I could actually finish thinking my question or whatever. I start out asking, “Do ….?” and I’d be cut off with a simple “Yes” before I could even finish the rest. lol. As far as that goes, she explained that as long as my intent is clear, a response can be given without there being a need for me to really form it into words. So most of the time when the answer doesn’t come until the very end, I suppose they are either being polite or (more likely) my intent isn’t quite as clear :-P

Ok. So back to the original story…

I was told that the noise was a spirit.

Now, what I heard wasn’t clear. It could have been anything, really. I opened up the window and listened. I could just barely hear something that sounded like voices. Every once and a while, there would be a sound like a shout or whatever. That’s a spirit? Can’t be. Went to another window and opened that. I listened. This time, it was more clear. It was just some kids playing basketball or something a bit far off from the house.

I went back to bed.

A spirit, huh? I was, like, there’s no way THAT was a spirit. “No. Not that,” I was told, “But there was another noise. That is what originally got your attention. And that was the spirit.” Huh. Whatever. So I walked back out there to close the window. I remembered there was a window open in the kitchen as well. As I went towards it, I could hear something. I turned on the outside lights and looked. There it was. A nice big opossum. Now, I live in a somewhat rural neighborhood, so I’ve seen opossum, raccoon, etc. roaming around plenty of times. This one did something a bit odd, though, Rather than running from the lights and retreating to the dark tree cover nearby, like most would, it looked at me for a bit and then ran across the side yard over towards the front window where I was, past the window, and then under my front deck. Weird. But, — who knows — maybe it was living under there or something and was just going back to where it felt safe. A moment later, though, I could hear it running from one end of deck back towards me. I actually wondered if it was going to somehow come up to the window. Even though I couldn’t see it, I could hear it making a lot noise just inches, it seemed, from me. It paused for a moment and then raced back to the side yard where I first saw it. And I didn’t hear or see it again after that.

Ok. I’ll admit it. It was odd.

Back in bed once again, I asked whether the spirit I was told about had something to do with the opossum I had just seen. It did, as a matter of fact. That’s just plain weird. So I asked if that would end up being a new guide for me. She said that it could be if I wanted it to. I briefly thought of having some opossum-looking thing running around in my head. Yeah. No thanks! lol.

I thought about it a bit more. I mean, if a spirit was using the opossum to tell me something or get my attention, that doesn’t mean the spirit itself looks like one. Still, don’t most spirits appear as people? I guess it isn’t really a topic I’ve come across before. So I asked S. about it (I was randomly using S-names at this point… Sheila, Sally, etc. It clearly didn’t matter at this point) Since she had come to me as an animal as well, I figured it was worth asking about. I asked if she and this other one were the same type of spirit. She said that they were similar but different. Hmm. What the heck does that mean? lol. Never really found out. At this point, I decided to write it all down so I wouldn’t forget…

I suppose there’s a lot of different stuff tonight could mean, but I’ll save it for later. I’m going back to bed… :)

[P.S.- Just as I was about to cheat and look it up, the name I had forgotten came back to me. It was Sylvia. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember it. lol]
